Gordon Gilbert, the former Mpumalanga Black Aces’ defender, embarked on an adventure that he will remember for the rest of his life. Gilbert embarked on a very tough 11-day awareness walk through the Kruger National Park – aimed at empowering communities and enabling conservation.

Joining &Beyond and Africa Foundation ‘FOOTPRINTS OF HOPE’ Ambassador and Professional Soccer Player, Gordon Gilbert were Mark Shaw, who is a senior mentor and training assessor as well as a highly qualified and experienced guide and naturalist. Lennox Mathebula, an expert ranger and Lyson Ngwenya, a senior ranger at Ngala Private Game Reserve will also play a key role in the walk. Les Carlisle, the Group Conservation Manager and Richard Sowry, a South African National Parks Section Ranger, assisted with all the logistics.

The campaign ultimately aimed at spreading awareness about the significance of the rhino, the benefits that it and other wildlife bring to the communities and the role that those communities can play in its preservation. Papadi Integrated Marketing saw this as an opportunity to help develop an awareness for the “Save The Rhino” and “Footprints of Hope” by developing Makarapa helmets as unique and special as the event. See photos below for the various Makarapa that was created for this special project.
